FAQ

RERA aims to promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the real estate industry, protecting the interests of both buyers and developers.

NO, we strongly recommend purchasing a property only in a MahaRERA-registered project.

  • MahaRERA has been designed to protect the interest of the Buyers and it enforces Developers to ensure there is complete transparency in all matters related to the project development.
  • MahaRERA has clear standards when it comes to payment schedules for Buyers
  • It requires Developers to publish reports regularly to provide transparency
  • There are clear penalties in place in case a project is delayed past the MahaRERA possession date
  • MahaRERA also has a clear dispute-resolution process in place
  • It requires the Real Estate Agents also to register themselves with MahaRERA and clear an exam to get the Competency Certificate. This ensures the Agents are also aware of the MahaRERA rules and customer’s rights and many more benefits.

All residential and commercial projects must have MahaRERA registration in Maharashtra. Without MahaRERA registration, a developer is not allowed to advertise, book or sell any real estate project. The Developer must display the project’s MahaRERA registration number on all marketing and advertising material along with the QR code to permit the Buyer to easily access their MahaRERA registration details of the project.

To enhance transparency, compliance and professionalism in the real estate sector, MahaRERA has mandated that only MahaRERA registered Agents can perform real estate transactions in new projects that are MahaRERA registered.

The Agents are required to undergo training to understand the MahaRERA rules and roles and responsibilities of Developers, Agents and Buyers. They also have to appear for the MahaRERA exam after which they are issued with a Competency Certificate. This ensures that there is more transparency in the real estate sector and ultimately protects the Buyer.
